Kimberly Richardson Virtual Tour

I am so excited to be apart of the Kimberly Richardson Blog Tour. I met Kimberly for the time two years ago at Fandom Fest where I picked up Tales From a Goth Librarian. I really enjoyed that one and it was one that was not like anything I had read before. Then I saw her again at this years Fandom Fest and discovered she does beautiful photography as well. I jumped at the chance to be apart of her tour.

This tour includes her books The Decembrists and Mabon and Pomegranate. For this tour I read The Decembrists. But I will include a synopsis for both.

Mabon and Pomegranate by Kimberly Richardson
Genre: Mythic Fiction
294 pages
Mabon:
What would you do if you discovered that your dreams were real? Monica had no idea that moving to the small town of Mabon would be the answer to her prayers, and yet so much more...
Pomegranate:
Alexandra has it all: a great job, a wonderful husband, and very few worries in the world. Yet, when a black clad stranger enters her life, she is suddenly thrust into a world of myths and legends all contained in the skin of an infamous fruit.

The Decembrists by Kimberly Richardson
Genre: Modern Gothic
218 pages
Sophie Joyce, a young writer, soon becomes a part of best selling author Hilliard Ravensdale's elitist world. Yet, what she desperately wants comes at a terrible price, revealing a secret from Hilliard's past that will threaten to destroy them both. Award-winning author Kimberly Richardson turns her literary eye to the world of sex, control, uprisings, secrets, and lies, all wrapped within a story worthy to be called modern Gothic.

                                        ABOUT THE AUTHOR
After found as an infant crawling among books in an abandoned library, Kimberly Richardson grew up to become an eccentric woman with a taste for jazz, drinking tea, reading books, speaking French and Japanese, playing her violin and writing stories that cause people to make the strangest faces. Her first book, Tales From a Goth Librarian, was published through Kerlak Publishing and named a Finalist in both the USA Book News Awards for Fiction: Short Story for 2009 and the International Book Awards for Fiction: Short Story in 2010. Ms. Richardson is also the Editor of the award winning Steampunk anthology Dreams of Steam, the award winning sequel, Dreams of Steam II: Of Brass and Bolts, and the upcoming Dreams of Steam III, all published through Kerlak Publishing. Other short stories and poetry by Ms. Richardson have been published through Sam’s Dot Publishing, Midnight Screaming and FootHills Publishing.  Her first full-length novel, The Decembrists (Kerlak Publishing), will be out in 2012. Her other book, Mabon and Pomegranate (Kerlak Publishing), will be out in 2012 as well.

My Thoughts:
The Decembrists was a fast read for me. It was a book that is stated to be Gothic and I would tend to agree with that. The book was kind of dark and twisty. I never really know what a book by this author will bring and I like that it makes life and books more interesting.  Richardson is as interesting as her writing and makes the whole thing a nice package. This one had an in-depth plot and even though it is a short novel it is intense and Richardson's writing is very poetic.

My Rating: 3 1/2 out of 5.

Dark Halo Tour presented by First Rule PR

Dark Halo by Christopher Kokoski
genre: paranormal thriller
334 pages

In a town besieged by shadowy, demonic forces, a father races against time to save his family.
Thirty-five-year old Landon Paddock has deserted his wife and daughter, abandoned his business, and secluded himself in his late parent’s southern Indiana ranch. But he’s barely lapsed into a drunken coma when a mysterious, winged stranger appears during a violent lightning storm, chasing him out into the maddening night with his estranged 15-year old daughter.
As layer after layer of reality is dissolved by a series of violent encounters, the only way to survive might be for Landon to band together with the family he destroyed to make one last stand against a sinister army of unthinkable magnitude.

 About the Author
Christopher was born in Kansas, the son of an Army Ranger and Black Hawk pilot. He grew up in Kentucky and Germany, and graduated from Murray State University in 2002 with a degree in Organizational Communication. He spent the next three years laboring over his first book, Past Lives, while getting married to his college sweetheart, having a beautiful daughter, and more or less finding his stride in life.

He currently lives in Southern Indiana and works in Louisville, Kentucky as a national trainer. He has presented at local and national conferences on a wide spectrum of topics including communication, body language, cultural sensitivity and influence. Other notable activities include writing articles, short stories, novels and training materials for national and international audiences.
Christopher continues his passion and dedication to writing by working on additional novels, including a sequel to the Past Lives series. His most recent book is the standalone paranormal thriller, Dark Halo.

My Thoughts:
This book was intense, not in a bad way but in a grip the book with both hands and hold on tight. It was non-stop action from the first word to the last. After I finished this book it felt like I had run a marathon. The book is set in Small Town Indiana and the author does a really amazing job painting a picture of places and people and events.  This book was so complex and wonderful and beautiful. It had demons, angels, mystery, and so much more. The cover art is amazing. The Characters are awesome. I look forward to reading this author again and highly recommend this book to anyone who is up for and action packed intense ride.

My Rating: 4 out of 5.
