A Review of Chill Run by Russell Brooks

Book Review By Wendi Fogle

Who would you run to if you witnessed the murder you were framed for? Both the feds and the real killers are after you and your only allies are an alcoholic and a dominatrix. This is the synopsis I received; it piqued my interest to say the least.
I won’t give any spoilers of course. The story begins with our main character Eddie Barrow Jr. having been shot. Throughout the book you keep turning pages to find out how this overwhelmed author whose life is falling apart around him ends up being shot.
Chill Run is about a simple author who just wants his novel published, and ends up getting caught in a big twisting conspiracy. Trying a ‘get famous quick’ scheme lands him smack dab in the middle of a murder; then the icing on the cake being framed for the same murder. As Eddie is on the run trying to get enough evidence to prove he didn’t murder anyone, both the murderers and the cops are hot on his trail.
I thought Chill Run was a fun Saturday afternoon read. It had a pace that kept you wondering what was next, turning the pages to find out why this or that was happening. At times I did find some of the situations forced or too emotional, but the story held up well and the characters stayed true to their personalities. I would definitely recommend this book to a friend who wanted a little mystery and humor together.

I love a little mystery mixed with humor!

Sounds like a great mystery and I stumbled it.

Thanks for the kind words. The book goes on sale on December 1, 2011. Check it out everywhere books are sold (ebook and paperbook).
